I painted this during a very tumultuous time between me and my 16 year old daughter. She sometimes bring out the worst in me, but she also bring out the best in me. This painting is my reminder, when times are hard and I am at my wit's end.
Bringing life to something that didn't previously exist, something that is uniquely your own.
There is so much hate and anger in the world. Beautiful things are needed to balance that or we would all go crazy. During the hardest times in my life art has been a safety net for me. During the best times of my life that same art is there to remind me how wonderful life is and that there will always be downs, but the ups are what make life worth living.

There have been so many times in my life that I have felt I was at the end of my rope. Your piece is the essence of that moment, the moment where you sit and think "what now", and then you make a choice and move forward. Thank you!

I look at this painting and see hope! I love this. You have captured the essence of feeling the feelings and then continuing on your path. Bravo!

Thank you! I have always prefered more vibrant colors for my work. I kind of thought the same thing about your muted tones that you thought about my color choices. This is actually part of a set. The second painting is not finished. It is a closeup of a pixie face & in the distance, behind her, is the scene from this painting. In the completed one, above, she is gathering the strength & courage to continue on her path. I didn't put any of that in the description, because I don't like to give viewers too much information about a piece at first, for the same reason I don't name any of my paintings. I don't want the viewer to have any preconceived ideas of what it 'should' mean. I think that defeats the purpose of art entirely. I appreciate that you took the time to comment. That's quite a compliment! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving also.

When I first look at your piece, I was taken aback by the color choices. It surprises me that you would use such colors for a piece that was supposed to inspire! (you can kind of tell my preferences of colors are much warmer/brighter on my piece) But then I kept looking and I was really fascinated by the subtle yet powerful lighting, as well as the meaningful concept behind this painting! It definitely evokes the right emotions you mention in your descriptions! I wish you the best!
And Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! I'm glad to have this opportunity to share thoughts with a talented artist :)

Interesting piece ~ beautiful coloring ~ three dimensional ~ peaceful, yet disturbing. This picture speaks volumes if one really looks at it.

We all feel like our wings are down sometimes, and this self-portrait needs little explanation from you - the jubilant deflected mushroom seems to enjoy your company so much so that he is reflecting back some of your light!
