Before the Rainbow

Submitted by: Maureen Mullally

Shot facing Black's Creek Marsh in Quincy, MA. Ant's eye view.

What does creativity mean to you?

Creativity comes from the word create. That is not quite what I am doing. I simply record what already exists around me, and search out the world's creativity. Many photos I take are from views the human eye may not normally see, and my hope is that it will impress upon the viewer that beauty is everywhere.

What do you love about art, photography, or your own creative passion?

I love the way a photograph can make a person think. Whether it is simply 'that is pretty' or they look into the depth in the frame, they are learning. They are seeing something in a way they normally wouldn't, or they get to re-witness beautiful 'Kodak' moments. From weddings, to sunsets, to still lifes, photography evokes emotions that people often don't get from the reality of the world around them.

In my description, I probably should've expanded on the title. What I refer to is that before the rainbow, the rain had taken all the seeds off of almost every dandelion, except for this one. This one survived the rain with most of its seeds in place, and now it sits, planted 'before the rainbow.'
